Overview: Very basic plastic needlepoint, cross-stitch, crewel, embroidery, other sewing and painting crafts . We’ll be doing a plastic needlepoint Christmas ornament, a cloth braided wreath, cross-stitch bookmark, and some small stitchery projects — possibly more. We’ll see how fast we work.

Pre-requisites: desire to learn stitchery, sewing and glue, sew or paint.

Requirements: none

Homework: Homework would be to work on needlework projects if not finished in class. Projects will be graded from how well instructions are followed and completion of projects.

Credits: 1 semester of an Elective

Course and/or Text Difficulty: 2 – Middle or High School

Homework Amount: 2 – only to finish projects as needed.

Tutor Expectations Regarding Deadlines, Attendance, Work Ethic, etc.: Attendance is important to be able to learn the new project each week and to work on it together in class. Grade is based on finishing projects. Doing your own work is important, of course.

Missy Wade has been home schooling her 2 children for 6 years. She has been married for 24 years to her husband, Tim, who owns his own paintless dent repair company in Edmond. Missy earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Business Administration with an emphasis on mathematics. She has been teaching high school mathematics in a home-school setting for the past 2 ½ years. She is passionate about teaching and excited to be joining CRHE. Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus – Missy Wade

This course extends the topics seen in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Students will gain an understanding of advanced mathematics. This course is designed to better prepare students for college level mathematics. Problem solving as required for the ACT will be included.

Grades: 10-12

Cost: $30 per month + $40 yearly materials fee

Curriculum: Addison Wesley, Precalculus 7^th edition

Homework: Each student will be required to keep a binder for notes and assignments. Homework will be assigned online using MathXLforSchool as well as from the textbook. Parents will be responsible for grading homework from an answer key provided.

Requirements: Internet and textbook. Textbook will be checked out from the tutor and returned in the same condition at the end of the school year. You may also have the option of purchasing your textbook.

This course is designed to provide full coverage of the basic concepts used in Geometry. Students will gain an understanding of proofs through the use of Postulates, Theorems, and incidence as they apply to logic, congruent triangles, areas, space, volume, similarity and trigonometry. Mental math and problem solving as required on the ACT are included.

Additionally, linear and quadratic functions and relations, review of radicals, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions, exponential and logarithmic functions, sequences and series will be explored. The advanced study of Algebra 2 can strengthen a student’s ability to solve problems and help their thinking and reasoning skills.

Council Road Baptist Church Homeschool Enrichment Program

CRBC Homeschool Enrichment is a group of families who collaborate their time and expertise to provide classes for their children in a group setting. Council Road Baptist Church Homeschool Enrichment (CRBCHE) exists to support students and parents on their journey of home educating. It is designed to be a supplementary enrichment; to help students and families interact and learn with one another in the community of Christ. We wish to glorify Jesus Christ in all we do and all classes are taught from a Christian worldview.

Enrollment is through each tutor. After reviewing the class descriptions thoroughly, contact them through e-mail (or by phone if necessary) to request information or enroll. We meet on Wednesdays at Council Road Baptist Church at N.W. 30th and Council Road. See tabs for class descriptions, tutor contacts, calendar and schedule. Class descriptions are short overviews. More complete descriptions are available through each tutor.

We have three rules we abide by. (1) That we treat everyone and everything with the utmost respect in a Christian manner; this includes our facility, each tutor, parent/volunteer, Church staff members, and fellow students. (2) Each tutor/teacher is the authority in each class, you must respect and abide by that tutors class rules. (3) All students 8th grade and under must have a parent on the CRBC campus. We accept temporary guardianship (30-40 min) of your student by another parent. This must be arranged prior to the beginning of the class period and the tutor and administrator must have the parent and guardian cell phone numbers.

The CUBE is located on the campus of CRBC, it is a community center that is open to everyone. It has a walking track, a workout room, 2 basketball courts, fitness classes, a courtyard with tables, and it has wireless internet. (WIFI) The commons area in the CUBE is where most students and parents eat lunch.

Oklahoma History (Fall Semester)

Curriculum: OK History in Light of the Cross

Overview: This class takes the students from Oklahoma Pre-State to present time. There will be a textbook and a workbook required. Requirements: Internet is always helpful for research.

Pre-Requisite: None

OK History Homework- Each student will be required to keep a notebook, responsible for keeping up with the reading requirements and terms, vocabulary, timeline, map, projects and Write papers or reports as assigned. I will be asking that parents check their student’s homework and initial before the students bring their work back each week.

Credit: 1/2 unit of Oklahoma History

Course and/or Text Difficulty: 3-4

Homework Amount: 5 (3-5 hours weekly)

World Geography (Spring Semester)

Curriculum: TBA

Overview: Since this will be a one semester course, this class will be a broad overview to learn world geography. We will work on one continent each two to three weeks and it will be work intensive. I will be asking the parents to check homework and initial before the students bring it back to class to turn in.

Homework: Students will be expected to keep a notebook, Draw MULTIPLE maps, utilize website for memorization purposes, and strive to do quality work. The students will be taking an online test for geography weekly that the parents will need to monitor. This test only takes 5-10 minutes.

Credit: 1/2 unit of History
